How to Shine a Gazelle

So, we were recently called to work on a helicopter to 'lift' the finish of it's paintwork. This involved a two-stage machine polishing process which we then sealed with a Boeing approved ceramic coating called SystemX Max.

This is one of the biggest tasks I have undertaken, taking two people three days to complete, but I can confidently say that it was massively rewarding at the end. This pearlescent coloured Gazelle boasted lots of gloss and looked fantastic by the time we finished. Absolutely loved this one.

UK Mothballs H135's Bought to Replace Gazelle Helicopter Fleet

UK procurement officials are facing awkward questions over MoD acquisition policy after it emerged that a fleet of Airbus Helicopters H135's purchased as replacements for the British Army’s Gazelles has been mothballed before seeing active use.

Acquired under a requirement known as ‘Project Matcha’, the helicopters were due to replace British Army Gazelles on operation in Northern Ireland.

However, the H135's have never seen operational service and are instead being placed into long-term storage, two sources with knowledge of the matter have confirmed to FlightGlobal.

Defence officials are now considering a range of options for the H135's, which could include a sale or lease back to Airbus Helicopters or a transfer to the National Police Air Service, which already operates H135's. The cost of the H135s has not been disclosed, nor if they have had any mission equipment installed. The MoD has declined to comment.
