Fantastico Zis! 👌 This is the first close-up photo of her interior that I have seen! 👍
Interestingly, the diamond-pattern employed in the headlining (which was quite common in the 70's and which featured in Ferranti's aircraft) is now a popular design for seats.
The photo I posted was courtesy of Ken Haynes who last year scanned a whole batch of previously unseen 206 photos for me and who has recently released a couple of Gaz images from the 70's which I will also post.
Following on from yesterday's post featuring G-BCHM, I am sharing another one of Ken's photos, this time showcasing McAlpine's G-BBHW.
I referred yesterday to the tail of a 206 visible in Ken's shot of G-BCHM and went on to share that I had flown to and from Farnborough aboard G-BFAL during Farnborough '78. Now in this shot, taken a year later, G-BFAL's tail is visible. Also just visible behind BFAL is I-CDVM which I flew in during Cranfield '79 when this photo was taken. This was a LongRanger II owned by Agusta and used as a demonstrator despite the fact that Agusta didn't actually produce any LongRangers.
Regarding G-BBHW, she was owned by McAlpine's from 1974 to 1991. In the early 80's (1981 I believe) she was resprayed by former Avia member the late Adrian Batchelor and was thereafter seen wearing a black and cream livery.

As we near the end of this little batch of Gaz photos from Ken Haynes, we look today at the lovely G-BBSI, the second of two Westland-built Gazelles bought by the McAlpine brothers. G-BBHW (which featured in my previous post) was acquired in July of 1974 and was so liked by the brothers that a second Gazelle (for family use, primarily younger brother Kenneth and his family) was immediately ordered and delivered just two months later in September of the same year.

My concern however is that a mechanic (or someone) appears to be trying to conduct an unconventional inspection of the Fenestron while lying on his back!
Did this become part of the Crabtree collection or go somewhere else?
My brother, Carlo, lived in San Francisco for some 30 years and I have visited there many times. He has since moved to New Jersey. When visiting him I would self-fly-hire 206's and later AStars from AstroCopters at Oakland Airport and take him and his family flying. Astro's chief pilot, who used to check me out, was an absolute gem.
I was delighted when I came across a video clip (below) featuring SA341G c/n 1509 N401S in its original livery:
(See from 2:04 to 5:30 min)
Since good quality images of Gazelles from the early production periods are quite difficult to find, this discovery encouraged me to announce
Request for Leads or Contacts
Together with other members of Aviafora, I am still on my search for historic Gazelle photos. In particular I am looking for photos of early Gazelles in North America as there seems to be a gap in the photo record of these aircraft.
I am looking for any leads or contacts with people who used to work with Vought Helicopters Inc. later Aerospatiale Helicopter Co. in the US, mechanics, pilots, admin staff, anyone in fact who may have photos of the Gazelles which VHI / AHC imported from France.
If anyone is able to help please send me a PM or email me at stipe2y@gmail.com
Any help in this regard will be highly appreciated!

It would be very interesting (as well as extremely useful for our readers, as we always have one or more potential Gaz buyers at any given time) to know what the experience was like on the '2' reg and to hear some comments about the advantages and disadvantages of registering with specific countries.
It would be great if you could track down some of the original Vought staff.
I can put you in touch will the senior sales representative from Vought/Aerospatiale USA. He may have photos as he sold many Gazelles in the states as well as far off countries.
𝐄𝐥𝐢𝐩𝐢𝐱, seeing as you are developing a UK Gaz list, can you give us the current tally (from publicly available info) on the current number of Crabtree Gazelles?

Waiting to see if anyone gets it correct I got it wrong earlier this week.
Typical I have not got my Gazelle records with me again til next weekend, on the whole I agree with Jos but there are others, think three AH.1s still to be registered and there are other ex military in his stable ! Yes I am watching the footie but may not be after Wales go out on Tuesday !
You mean HA-PJB, is that your favourite Crabtree Gaz? Do you prefer stretched Gazelles over the regular ones? Also, do you know what happened to that Philippine registered bird in the photo?
